A little about me

Hi, I'm Jan Ware. Thank you for interest in my work. A little about me: I live in Rye, NH and have been married to Jesse Ware for 35 years. In addition, I am a Mom to two remarkable adult children, which is my most treasured role, as well as to a very cute setter, named Bandit and a lovable senior cat, named Ellie May. Spending time with family and friends is what fills my heart and soul. To relax, I love cooking and especially baking. One day I will perfect a gluten free sourdough! I am able to put that love to work by volunteering at Gather, our local food bank. And finally, as I am drawn to the ocean, I feel incredibly grateful to live in the seacoast area close enough to walk the beach with Bandit often.
My path to this work started after experiencing many losses within my family over just a few years, after which I found myself lost and searching for something that would help me and perhaps my family through this pain. At times, grief seemed to engulf me, and I was struggling. A friend suggested I go for a Reiki session. I did and to say it helped is an understatement. Something shifted and after a few more sessions I knew I had to find out more.
I took a Reiki I certification class and everything changed. I had this innate feeling that I was exactly where I was supposed to be. During a break in class the instructor put out some books for suggested reading. As I looked at the titles, I smiled as I realized that over the last 25 or so years, I had read about 2/3 of the 10-12 books she had laid out. It just seemed like I was always meant to find my way to Reiki. So, over the next year and a half I practiced Reiki and took the classes to become a Reiki Level III practitioner. Over time, by opening myself up to Reiki and being more aligned energetically, I have been able to receive intuitive insights for me and my clients, which I share during the intuitive Reiki sessions.
Through Reiki, the sense of peace that I have been able to attain has been remarkable. After some time, I realized that most of my clients, who were coming to me for Reiki, were experiencing unresolved grief, just as I, myself was when I discovered Reiki. So, I searched for a grief program that I could offer clients in addition to Reiki and discovered the The Grief Recovery Institute®. The Grief Recovery Method® is an evidence-based program that has been shown to help reduce grief by teaching new skills on how to cope and process grief. I am now a Certified Grief Recovery Method Specialist™ through the Grief Recovery Institute®, leading others through this powerful program.
Life throws us curve balls and to know there is something that helps us settle into ourselves and the Universal energy within us is a gift. The journey in my life that has led to this work, though challenging and at times heartbreaking, has opened the door for me to share this healing work. Helping others by providing them with Reiki and/or the Grief Recovery Method® is an honor that I take very seriously and have immense gratitude for.
My studio is located in York, Maine for both Reiki and Grief Recovery in person appointments. In addition, Grief Recovery is offered via Zoom. Please contact me if you have any questions or would like to schedule a session.
