Things on my mind

Spring Energy Shift
Hi Everyone, I hope that Spring is treating you to some sunshine. Here in New England it was a very snowy winter so I’m happy to see the ground, even if it is brown for now, hence the name “mud season”. If you recall in my Feng Shui blog, I mentioned the balance of yin and yang energy. We are entering the time of year that is predominately yang energy, it takes the lead. That is evident to me by the increased number of joggers, walkers and cyclists on the roads as well as t

New Look and Offerings
Hi All, Welcome to the new look of Heart Stone Energy. After quite a bit of thought and a few ideas that ended up in the trash bin on my computer, this is the result. I wanted to keep the original heart but wanted to brighten things up a bit. The work that is offered here at Heart Stone Energy is energy work and grief recovery which are inherently light work. I hope this new website reflects that sentiment. In addition to a new look, there are new offerings as well, both are

Let's talk Feng Shui
What is Feng Shui (pronounced fuhng shwey)? (November 18, 2025) The literal meaning is Feng “wind” and Shui “water”. Feng Shui is the balancing of chi, or universal energy that is in all things. In my mind, it is the application of the same guidance of Reiki; balancing the flow of energy, but instead of in one’s body, it is in the actual spaces we spend time in, our homes, schools and work spaces. It is the knowledge of balancing energy, chi, in any given space. I have stud

Practicing Discernment and Kindness
Hi All, I, like many of you, have been following the news, which admittedly seems pretty dire and just plain awful, (September 24, 2024). I make a point of trying my best to tune into unbiased news outlets as much as possible to find out about current situations in the world and our country. Unfortunately, depending on what source you go to, the news can be very different. On one site, group 1 is out to get group 2 and everyone who leans more towards group 2’s beliefs or id

September
Hi All, Happy September! (September 5, 2025)In case you haven’t heard, I moved my studio to a new location. I am now in York, Maine, which feels like the right home for Heart Stone Energy. My husband and I lived in York for over 20 years and we raised our kids right down the road from where I am now. The building has a wonderful energy and a peaceful setting. I am very grateful to be here. (The Santini Chiropractic building located at 2 Southside Road York, Maine) The buildi

Breathing...
Hi Everyone, I’m sorry I haven't written in a while. So, what is on my mind right now…Breathing! (July 16, 2025) I have been recovering from a bout of pneumonia, so breathing is and was on my mind. When I am well, I love to exercise, walk my dog and admittedly I have a hard time sitting still until the end of the day. But, over the last 3 weeks, I haven’t been able to do the things I enjoy or need to do. Breathing easily was not happening. Prior to this illness, I think I was

Distractions Good and Bad
Hi Everyone, I’ve been thinking a lot about distractions, the good and the bad. When they are a positive coping skill and when they can stop emotional healing. (June 2, 2025) Unfortunately, distractions can be negative . Think Procrastination. This occurs when you use them to completely avoid things that need dealing with, which is not limited to chores or work, but emotional work as well. A common thing that individuals experiencing deep grief do is ‘busy’ themselves, so th

Should you, Could you?
Hi All, Hope you are finding yourself some times of quiet and peace during these very tumultuous times. Remember to BREATHE. (May 5, 2025) I decided to write about the power of the word ‘Could’ as opposed to ‘Should’. For some background, I am a big fan of Louise Hay. She was an American motivational author, professional speaker and AIDS advocate. Louise was one of the original teachers of the mind/body connection. She sold over 50 million copies of her many books, and they

A Chilly Day with Bandit and a quick Reset Method
Hi All, It has been a good month since my last post. (April 1, 2025) My husband and I recently bought a colonial home, (read 1726, Yes, no joke!) and every spare moment of time I have been painting. But, today, I am taking a pause in home improvement. It is a raw, chilly day in NH so I have the fire going and am listening to some music and my dog is out cold on the sofa snoring lightly. In other words, I am feeling blessed and grateful. Over the last couple of months I have

Showing Support for Those in Grief
Hi all. I thought I would share with you some of the ideas and principles that I have learned as a Grief Recovery Specialist™ of what is and isn’t helpful to those who are grieving.(February 24, 2024) Let me preface this by saying that this is not a complete list and for some these suggestions will not hold true, you need to follow your gut on this. First and foremost, Do Not, I repeat, Do Not, tell someone what stage of grief they are in or even talk about it with others. W

What is Unresolved Grief Revisited
Did you know there are more than 40 different life events that can cause feelings of Grief? (January 16, 2025) Everyone, without exception, at some point in their lives, will experience some kind of grief. Avoiding it is impossible. The form of grief that limits life experiences is Unresolved Grief. So, what is Unresolved Grief? The answer to that question can be many different things to each person. But, for me, as a Grief Recovery Specialist™, I go back to the definition I

Happy New Year!
Reflections of the year on NYE. (December 31, 2024) What does that actually mean to me? What I like to do is take some time and think about the year in full which means thinking about the wonderful, the good, the not so good and sometimes the pretty bad. What was Wonderful? The tippy top is the wedding of my son and our new daughter in law. It was not only a beautiful and thoughtful event, which was wonderful (read a few blogs ago to get the scoop), but more importantly, it

Rumi's The Blind Folower
(November 22, 2024) If you haven't read Rumi's "The Blind Follower" from the book, Rumi Poems , selected and edited by Peter Washington, I invite you to do so above, or if that is too small to read, here it is: "The parrot looking in the mirror sees Itself, but not its teacher hid behind, And learns the speech of Man, the while it thinks A bird of its own sort is talking to it. So the disciple full of egoism Sees nothing in the Shaykh except himself. The Universal Reason Eloq

My Checklist in this Moment
Hi All, It may come as no surprise that I am disappointed with this week's election results. (November 8, 2024) I respect that it didn’t go the way I wanted. My hope is that it is not a reflection of what is truly in the hearts of those who opposed my candidate, but rather points out the fear for their particular situation and not that they are hateful and see others as less than or worse, not even worthy of kindness. However, admittedly, it would be naive of me to think tha

Lessons from my dog, Bandit
Hi all, Today is a glorious day in New Hampshire at least on the Seacoast.(October 10, 2024). I have the privilege of living close enough to the beach to drive there and take my dog, Bandit, for a walk off leash. First, a little background on our boy. Bandit is only 8, or at least that is the best guess, because Bandit is a rescue from a wonderful group, English Setter Rescue aka Above and Beyond English Setter Rescue. He was found in the woods of Virginia and was starving.

Whoopie Pies, Caramel Popcorn and Rain!
Hey there, sorry for the very long gap of time between communication.(September 30, 2024) Let’s just say moving, Covid and pneumonia were not in my plans for the summer. But, here I am again and determined not to let so much time pass before posting. You may be wondering about the title here, I’m guessing the photo gives you some clue. My son recently got married to the love of his life. I don’t say that to hyperbolize, rather to tell the truth. The weekend was filled with j

Anger is it really a Bad thing?
Hi All, Happy almost official Summer. (May 30,2024) Usually when I write it is because something has struck a chord in me that I want to communicate out into the world (and especially to whoever you are who reads these posts, by the way, thank you) so this time is no different. Emotions, what a broad spectrum of feelings, some feel good and some don’t feel so good. Throughout our lives many of us have been instructed to ‘keep our emotions under control’. Well, what the heck d

Unresolved Grief, What is it?
It is finally feeling like Spring around me.(April 18, 2024) Flowers are blooming and the peepers are peeping! Nature is doing its thing and waking up. Finally:) And by the way, that's a picture of my Mom, read on for why I have this lovely lady pictured. In this blog post, I want to touch the surface of what unresolved grief really is, but first grief. According to (“ https://www.dictionary.com/browse/grief " ) “Grief is defined as mental or emotional suffering or distress c

Practicing the Pause
Hi everyone, Happy Spring, or here in New England, Happy Mud season:) (March 19, 2024) Practicing the Pause. What does this mean, really? The answer I believe is very individual. I try to follow this instruction and as far as I can tell, I’ve had near 100% more positive results than if I don’t. The most common pause I utilize in my life is to take a breath, that’s it, I take a breath. Before I respond to something that I heard that didn’t land so well, I take a breath. It gi

Battling Overwhelm and Hopelessness
(February 27, 2024) I hope everyone is well. From the title you may think that I am not, but I am OK. I had a little blip of feeling pretty low. Then, I realized I was reading the news or listening to the news podcasts more than usual. Being informed of the happenings in our world is not only a privilege but I believe, also a responsibility. I often think of the places in the world now and in the past when citizens are/were only hearing what the powers that be wants/wanted th
