Sneaking in Little Breaks

Summer is in full swing here. I have admittedly gotten out of some of my routines. But, I do keep the ones that provide me with some peace and perspective, such as journaling, getting outside, and seeing friends and family.
Are you taking time for yourself? Sometimes that seems impossible, especially if you have small children or are a caregiver to a family member, but it is so important to honor yourself when you can.
If you feel you cannot fit one more thing in, here are some ways to sneak in a little ‘break’, and ways to honor yourself.
As you are pouring your morning coffee, tea, smoothie, etc, breathe deeply, feel your feet on the floor, your hands on the cup/glass, and thank your body, your mind, and your spirit for another day. You got this!
In the shower, take a moment and let the water just pour over you, visualize any worries, troubles or negative feelings being washed away down the drain. Then, try and think of one positive thing that you can build upon, and don’t pick up those feelings that already went down the drain!
As you fall asleep at night, thank your body for providing you strength and the ability to do what you needed to do that day. And send gratitude to anyone who made the day a bit better.
Go outside, and whether you are in a city with large buildings around you or in a yard with trees and grass, remind yourself of the world around you. It’s so easy to get tunnel vision, but the world is a big place, full of good people.
Finally, if you can get with other people, Do IT. Having and being part of a community has been linked to greater health in your body, mind and spirit. We are social creatures and require socialization.
Self care doesn't need to be a huge chunk of time or even a lot of effort. Just remember to remember yourself:)
If you do have time and resources, book a session in any modalities that heal the body and soul such as Reiki, Massage, craniosacral therapy, yoga or any others that you are drawn to.
Wishing you so much Love and Light, Jan
