What do you want in 2026?

Hi Everyone,

I write this blog as a way to share some of my thoughts that have helped me and my hope is that someone will get some tidbit from it that will resonate. I am not obtuse to what is going on in our world, I can let my voice be heard on issues but I know I cannot control the external only my space and energy. I wanted to share one of the ways I try and do this.

So, on that note, let me start by wishing everyone a fulfilling, peaceful and Happy New Year. At the beginning of every new year  I try to make a vision board so that I have a visual representation of my goals and hopes for the coming year. This year is looking a little different. I have really decided to focus on work and in addition, activities that I know will bring me joy and contentment, rather than what I ‘should’ have on it. (if you haven’t already, read my blog from May 5,2025, titled “Should you, Could you”, Here).

Of course, I do still want to have health and success in the new year and beyond, but what does that mean? So, I got a little more specific. Because, the more specific I get, the more I can picture the outcome. I will share that one of my items on the board is to learn 2 songs on the Ukulele. I am giving some thought as to what those songs will be but the point is I have made it specific and attainable. It is not as general as learning to play the Ukulele because what does that actually mean, at least this is where my mind goes. I need specifics. The more specific the goal or hope is, the easier it is to picture it in my mind, the more I visualize it, and the more I can start to feel what it would be like to actually achieve the ‘thing’. If you decide to do a vision board be sure to include all areas of your life: family, health, work, friends, fun, financial, and anything else you may want but those are the ones I use. What do you want in 2026?

As promised, here is some more Feng Shui. Another item on my vision board is to organize bins in the basement, weed out and label. Remember in my last blog post I discussed Clutter and Feng Shui regarding it. My living space is pretty organized, but the basement is a bit of a mess. I gave my husband and I a break on this since we spent the last year doing some needed renovations on our 1726 (old part), 1824 (‘new’ addition’) house. But, now it is time to look at the whole picture. Even though you cannot see the clutter, it is there. In Feng Shui, it is important to respect your space, so that your space can support you. Remember everything is energy and attracts like energy, so it is important to treat your space as you want your body and spirit to be. The other thing to note, organizing doesn’t cost anything. You do not need expensive containers or shelves. Just weeding out old items and broken items. Donating or selling those items that are no longer needed and are in good shape is a great way to make space.

Keeping Items out of Guilt: Be sure to feel good in your space. If there is something in your space that you do not like and have only kept because either it was a gift or it belonged to a family member who has passed and you feel ‘guilty’ getting rid of it, this is your sign to give it away. Keeping items that you don’t want out of guilt is not a good practice. This is a type of emotional clutter which will keep you in the past and block flowing energy that may bring you happiness. A good practice is to give gratitude for the item and the person whom you received it from, appreciate them and the item. If it is in good condition you may have a family member or friend who would like the item or find a donation center. Good luck with whatever projects you take on in your goal of decluttering, every bit helps.

Until next time please take care of yourselves and each other.

Sending light and love to all,

Jan
